Can you guess?
For ladies whose arms, lips, stomachs or other frustratingly hairy body parts require constant maintenance: there’s an upside!
Yes, hairy women might have to shave, wax and pluck more often than the fair-haired brethren, but research reveals that hairy ladies have better sex than their less hairy counterparts.
Apparently, our body has two types of hair: vellus and terminal. The vellus hair is fine, non-pigmented and unresponsive to hormones. Terminal hair, on the other hand, is generally long, coarse and dark. It also changes based on our hormones.
So, the unfortunate mustache post-menopausal women often battle? That’s terminal hair on hormones. How does this relate to sex, you ask?
Here’s how the Times of India describes the connection:
“Since hirsute women have higher levels of testosterone, both the clitorisand the G-spot are thought to respond to the hormone. Women capable of orgasm during penetrative sex have a thicker tissue area in the region between the vagina and the urethra, meaning it’s now easy to medically tell the difference between the lucky ‘cans’ and the ‘can-nots.’”
Many women don’t have orgasms from intercourse alone, hence the plethora of gels, shots and tips to try and make it happen. Of course, an increased level of testosterone isn’t the only factor; painful conditions like vulvodynia make sex, let alone orgasm, virtually impossible for some women.
