Don’t just accept what is going on around you, get the best out of it. You deserve better.
Congratulations, you made it through 2017, which is much harder than it sounds like. But with the ending of 2017, comes everyone’s New Year’s resolutions, which honestly always end in around March, if not sooner. This year I plan to have a different kind of resolution, not one that deals with exercising, dieting or any kind of health-related factor.
This year, I am going to set a higher standard for the dating life.
I will become pickier rather than tolerating what is out there and no longer settle. I will fight for me and my needs. I will only be made a priority because I deserve it. I will no longer be second best or not enough. If a guy cannot take me for who I am and make me a priority, he can move along.
Dating is hard enough as it is while also trying to manage school, activities, work and a social life. I am putting my foot down. I will no longer shed tears over guys who wouldn’t think twice about me. I will no longer give my heart out to those who do not deserve it in the first place. I will no longer wonder why he won’t put in as much effort as I have. I will no longer question why I was just not good enough.
That. Ends. Now.
So if you are the type of person who thrives with someone by your side, you are not alone. Set a higher standard for yourself; don’t just accept what is going on around you, get the best out of it.
You deserve better.
You deserve the type of person who will go above and beyond for you, not necessarily buying you flowers all the time or spending every waking second together but who shows you how much they care, making you a priority, being your rock when you need one. You deserve a support system. You deserve someone who is willing to show you off to the world. You deserve the type of person who will fight for you and with you.
You are enough.
You are important.
You have worth.
You deserve more.
As this year comes to a close and 2018 begins, I have concluded my New Year’s Resolution is to hold myself higher than I did in 2017. I deserve better than what 2017 gave me.
I am enough and so are you.
