Dear God—I’m Trusting When You Tell Me To Wait

Lord, I trust You when You say “Wait,” because I know that You have Your perfect time.

Your ways are higher than my own, so I’m trusting You more than anyone. I am still young and I don’t know if I could handle the relationship You’ll bless me with. I may have prayed countless times for You to fulfill my heart’s desire, but thank You for sending trials and lessons to hone and prepare me instead of sending “him” immediately to me.

You make all things beautiful in Your time, and I know that You’ll bless me with a beautiful love. My time may not be Your time, and so I’m slowly learning to wait until you give me what’s mine.

Lord, I trust You when You say “Wait,” because I believe that You want me to enjoy and know myself first.

You want me to live freely, yet godly. Living to please others aside from You could be burdensome and You don’t want me to live like that. Thus, I am deciding to be on my own for a while because I trust You’d send the one, if I finally understand and love myself better than anyone. By then, I already know what and who I want in my life and will not resort to just having some guy I could show to the world.

From now on, I’ll keep running while serving. I will not be searching for love anymore because I am confident that I have a Savior who loves me too much. He can’t let me settle for less.

I will not wander around seeking people’s validation. I know that likes on Facebook could never dictate my worth, nor could the number of people talking about me on Instagram ever explain how deserving I am of the man that will love me for who I am in You. I am going to trust You that, by the time I have appreciated myself and fulfilled all that I want, I am going to attract the right person and will be loved by him forever.

Lord, I trust You when You say “Wait,” because I understand that You are still going to fulfill great things through me.

You are going to be with me as I succeed. You will help me get my dream job.
You are going to bless me with good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. I will be in places, times, and experiences I could have never imagined. I am going to shine.

You will shine Your light through me and You will use me to tell this lonely world about Your love.

And someday, when I look back at this time of my life, I will see all the faces and lives I have touched because I chose to wait on You. Then, You are going to present to me the life that I’d be touching the most—the life of the man I will love.

Lord, I trust You when You say “Wait,” because You are my God and I have faith in You.

I trust You with my salvation and even with my simplest needs. How, then, can I not trust You with my heart? You promised Heaven to me, and I believe with all that I am that the man I’m asking for will eventually come when You will it.

I put my confidence in Your schedule, in Your will, and in the entirety of Your plan.

I don’t want to be a disobedient child who listens to her deceptive heart instead of looking unto her Father in Heaven. You are all the world to me and while I’m thrilled to share this world with another, I know in the deepest part of my soul that I am already whole.

You’ve made me complete.

However, I surely want to spend this precious life with someone and to finally have the joy of venturing the world while holding hands with the man I’ll love. I could go on and on all day with a list of things I long to happen, but for now I’m waiting on You and trusting Your plan.

Lord, I’ll trust You when You say “Wait,” because You promised me that You will give me whatever my heart desires as long as I delight in You.

In times when I’m longing, hoping, and wondering, that’s when I shall trust You even more. I’ll keep running after You until I see You and the “one.

The “one” will be running after me while I run after You, and You will be telling me, “My child, the long wait is over. Here’s the answer to your prayer.”
