Manipulative people are everywhere – however, they can be very good at hiding who they are and masking their manipulative behavior as normal. It’s very important to spot out these manipulative individuals right away so that you can distance yourself from them. You always need to protect yourself from these kinds of people because they can significantly impact a person’s life for the worse if one is not careful.
But again, they are so good at masking themselves, you will never know that you are in a relationship with a manipulative person unless you know what you need to be looking out for. And that’s why there are so many people who end up getting victimized by manipulative individuals.
So you should know better. You need to do your part in protecting your own heart; in making sure that you don’t open yourself up to the potential abuse of manipulative individuals. And how exactly do you do that? Well, it all starts with making yourself aware of the signs:
1. He always acts as if he’s the victim in your relationship.
He’s going to make it seem like you are the abusive one in the relationship. He will make it seem like he is constantly being victimized by you and your behavior. In that way, if he manages to convince you that you are being abusive, he puts the pressure on you to love him more than he actually deserves.
2. He consistently has an excuse for everything.
He is always going to find a way to convince you that his terrible behavior is justified even when it isn’t. He has an excuse prepared for everything. And the reason that he has an excuse for everything is because he prepares these excuses in advance. That’s why he gets away with doing so many bad things to you.
3. He doesn’t give validation to your feelings or your emotions.
He always dismisses your feelings and emotions like they’re nothing. He’s going to make you feel like you’re not allowed to feel these things that you’re feeling; like somehow they’re invalid and insignificant.
4. He changes the topic whenever you ask him questions about his life.
H doesn’t want to open up to you. He doesn’t want to let you in. He doesn’t want to make you feel like you are an important person to him. And so he ‘s never going to let you in. He’s never going to entertain any questions that you might have in life.
5. He deliberately does and says things that make you feel bad.
He does this to put you down. He really tries to make you feel as bad as possible so that you never grow complacent with him. He wants to destroy your spirit and he wants to make you as insecure as possible. He knows that that is the most effective way of getting you to cling to him. He wants you to continuously work for his approval.
6. He makes you feel guilty about having other guy friends.
He is going to feel totally entitled to your time. He’s going to make it seem like you aren’t allowed to be spending time with anyone else but him. He’s going to make it seem like he should be the only guy in your life – and he’s going to really make you feel bad about having other guy friends. But he conveniently has other lady friends himself.
7. He treats you so nicely in front of other people, but he treats you terribly when it’s just the two of you.
In reality, he’s a terrible relationship partner. But he would never want other people to know that. He will act nicely towards you when you’re in front of other people so that they would think that you’d be crazy to be complaining about being with him.
8. He somehow always makes you feel afraid and insecure in your relationship.
He is never going to give you that emotional security that you usually need in a relationship. He is always going to make you fear for the future of your relationship. He will never be able to make you feel safe in your own romance.
9. He constantly lies to you.
He doesn’t care much about the truth when it comes to you. He is openly going to disrespect you by feeding you lies and lies just to get himself out of trouble. He would have no problems just lying to you if it’s convenient for him to do so. He isn’t really a guy you can trust to be honest with you.
10. He makes you feel like you are dependent and indebted to him.
He is going to find a way to make it seem like you are going to have to stay with him forever because of all that he has supposedly done for you. He will make you think that you are somehow indebted to him; like somehow, you wouldn’t be where you are now if it weren’t for him.
